Biografía El so nome completu yera Henry Brazeale Walthall, y nació nel Condáu de Shelby (Alabama), Estaos Xuníos.
Walthall empezó la so carrera como actor teatral, actuando en Broadway nun papel de repartu na pieza de William Vaughn Moody The Great Divide en 1906–1908.
La so carrera nel cine empecipiar en 1908, col filme Rescued from an Eagle's Nest, nel cual actuaba un mozu actor llamáu D.W. Griffith. Según evolucionaba y crecía la popularidá de la industria cinematográfica, Griffith remaneció como direutor y Walthall pasó a ser una pilastra principal de la compañía del primeru, trabayando con frecuencia xunto a asiduos de Griffith como Owen Moore, Kate Bruce y Jack and Mary Pickford. Por ello, acompañó a Griffith cuando ésti dexó l'American Mutoscope and Biograph Company en Nueva York pa pasar a los Estudios Reliance-Majestic en California en 1913.
Dada la relativa curtia duración de los filmes de los primeros años de la industria, Walthall frecuentemente trabayó en docenes de títulos nun mesmu añu. Siguió trabayando na década de 1920, actuando en The Plastic Age, con Gilbert Roland y Clara Bow, y na adautación de 1926 de The Scarlet Letter, xunto a Lillian Gish.
Agora con más de cuarenta años d'edá, les sos actuaciones reconvertíen-y cada vegada más n'actor de calter, siguiendo cola interpretación hasta'l momentu del so fallecimientu, asocedíu en 1936 por causa d'una gripe en Monrovia, California. Foi enterráu nel Campusantu Hollywood Forever de Hollywood, California.
