Per primer vegada, la lletra d'un cantar escribir dende'l puntu de vista d'una muyer, acometiendo al so ex amigu con qu'ella yá ye llibre y puede siguir alantre ensin él. El cantar convirtióse nun himnu de la lliberación femenina y anguaño sigue sonando con fuercia en discoteques y karaokes.

El so otru gran ésitu foi una versión de The Jackson 5: "Never Can Say Goodbye" ("Nunca puedo dicir adiós"). Sería versionado con enorme ésitu nuevamente por Jimmy Sommerville, líder del grupu The Communards.

El so tercer gran ésitu, "I am What I am" ("Soi lo que soi") convertir n'himnu llenos de frases y pallabres motivadoras, diz Gaynor que nun-y gusta cantar cantares murnios.

En febreru de 1980 presentar nel XXI Festival Internacional del Cantar de Viña del Mar.

Gaynor convirtióse al cristianismuGloria Gaynor: Surviving In Christ. 700 Club y tiempu dempués llanzó un álbum de música gospel tituláu We Will Survive (Nós Vamos Sobrevivir), títulu que darréu llevó'l so llibru homónimu publicáu en 2014.
