Dorothy Erna Beetle , foi una botánica, malacóloga, y profesora d'Estaos Xuníos. Recibió un Bachelor of Arts en paleontoloxía de la Universidá de California, Berkeley. En California, casóse col Dr. Alan Beetle, teniendo un home y una muyer. En 1946, la familia dir a Laramie, WY, onde Dorothy completó la so M.Sc. en Botánica na Universidá de Wyoming.

Divorciar en 1963, y en 1986 casóse con Richard Pillmore. En 1993 donó les sos coleiciones malacológicas al "Field Museum", con 5.500 especímenes.
