Šahovska olimpijada 1931.

Četvrta Šahovska olimpijada 1931, koju je organizirala FIDE i koja se sastojala od otvorenog i ženskog turnira, uz nekoliko pratećih događaja sa svrhom promocije šaha, održana je od 11. do 26. jula u Pragu.Šahovska olimpijada 1931. na OlimpBaseu Tokom ove olimpijade održano je i Treće svjetsko prvenstvo za žene.

Turnir Turnir se igrao u Pragu. Na olimpijadi je nastupilo 19 ekipa sa ukupno 93 šahista, koji su igrali po Bergerovom sistemu. Odigrano je 684 partija, a timovi su igrali na četiri table, a jedan rezervni igrač je bio dozvoljen. Igralo se na dva sata za prvih 40 poteza. U slučaju istog broja osvojenih bodova, odlučivalo je timsko bodovanje, po kojem je za pobjedu tima dodjeljivano 2 boda, za remi 1 bod i poraz nije donosio bodove.

Rezultati Pobjednik bila je ekipa SAD-a u sastavu: Isaac Kashdan sa 8 pobjeda, jednim porazom i 8 remija, Frank Marshaln (+7 −3 =6), Arthur Dake (+5 −2 =7), Israel Albert Horowitz (+6 −1 =6) i Herman Steiner (+7 −2 =3). Drugo mjesto osvojili su šahisti Poljske: Akiba Rubinstein (+6 −3 =7), Savielly Tartakower (+10 −1 =7), Dawid Przepiórka (+6 −3 =8), Kazimierz Makarczyk (+5 −1 =6) i Paulino Frydman (+4 −1 =4), a treće Čehoslovačka: Salo Flohrs (+8 −4 =6), Karl Gilg (+2 −3 =6), Josef Rejfiř (+7 −1 =8), Karel Opočenský (+7 −2 =4) i Karel Skalička (+9 −2 =3). Najbolji igrač bio je Aleksandar Aljehin sa učinkom 75% i osvojenih 13½ poena iz 18 partija.
