La ceinture principale d'astéroïdes du Système solaire présente à ce jour une seule planète naine reconnue, . D'autres astéroïdes tels , ou encore qui fut étudié à partir de 2011 par la sonde spatiale Dawn sont parfois listés parmi les planètes naines potentielles.
