Os achuar son un pobo indíxena que habita no Amazonas. Son uns 18 500 individuos que viven na fronteira entre Ecuador e o Perú. A comezos da década de 1970, os achuar eran un dos derradeiros grupos xívaros que aínda non mantiveran contacto co exterior.
