A Tetrapturus a sugarasúszójú halak (Actinopterygii) osztályának sügéralakúak (Perciformes) rendjébe, ezen belül a vitorláskardoshal-félék (Istiophoridae) családjába tartozó nem.
Tudnivalók A Tetrapturus-fajok mindegyik óceánban megtalálhatók, a trópusi és a szubtrópusi részeken. A sporthorgászok kedvelt halai.
