James Platten Vanderbilt (17 de novembro de 1975) é um roteirista e produtor norte-americano. Ele é mais conhecido por escrever os filmes Zodiac (2007), O Espetacular Homem-Aranha (2012) e sua sequência de 2014, e Independence Day: Resurgence (2016). Ele também coescreveu e produziu Scream (2022) e sua sequência de 2023. Vanderbilt também contribuiu como produtor em vários filmes, incluindo The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018) e Ready or Not (2019).
Biografia Membro da família Vanderbilt, de Nova York, James é filho de Alison Campbell (nascida Platten) e Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt III. Seu bisavô paterno, Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt Sr., morreu no naufrágio do RMS Lusitania em 1915; seu avô paterno, Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt Jr., presidiu a New York Racing Association; e seu avô materno, Donald Campbell Platten, foi o executivo-chefe e presidente do Chemical Bank.
Vanderbilt cresceu em Norwalk, Connecticut, e estudou na New Canaan Country School. Ele é graduado pela St. Paul's School (EUA) e pela Universidade do Sul da Califórnia.
