São algas marinhas encontradas na Europa (Irlanda, Inglaterra, França e Espanha), Ásia (Japão, Coreia, Índia, Sri Lanka e Vietnã), Austrália, ilhas do Pacífico (Samoa, Fiji e Polinésia Francesa, ilhas do Índico (Reunião) e ilhas do Atlântico (Cabo Verde e Canárias).
