Японская футбольная лига 1998

Чемпионат Японской футбольной лиги 1998 — седьмой розыгрыш Японской футбольной лиги (JFL). Был представлен одним дивизионом с 16 клубами, которые провели по 30 матчей между собой. Это был последний чемпионат JFL, существующий в формате лиги второго уровня Японии. С 1999 года в Джей-лиге был сформирован второй дивизион — J2, а JFL стала лигой третьего уровня.

Результаты Поскольку два клуба в прошлом сезоне были расформированы («Fukushima» и «Seino Transportation»), их место в нынешнем розыгрыше заняли команды из региональной лиги — «Альбирекс Ниигата» и «Сони Сэндай», а также вместо вышедшего в высший дивизион «Консадоле Саппоро» впервые был допущен к участию «Kokushikan University». «NTT Kanto» сменил название на «Омия Ардия».

На время чемпионата мира 1998 перерыв в JFL длился около двух месяцев. «Токио Газ» одержал победу и, в результате реформирования JFL, вместе с другими клубами («Монтедио Ямагата», «Ванфоре Кофу», «Оита Тринити», «Brummell Sendai», «Саган Тосу», «Альбирекс Ниигата» и «Омия Ардия») пополнил созданный второй дивизион Джей-лиги. «Кавасаки Фронтале», получивший в прошлом году статус ассоциированного члена Джей-лиги, мог побороться за выход в высший дивизион страны. Закончив сезон JFL на второй строчке, клубу предстояло сыграть стыковой матч с последней командой высшей лиги J1 — «Ависпа Фукуока». Проиграв эту встречу со счетом 2-3, «Кавасаки» присоединился к своим партнерам по JFL во втором дивизионе. Остальные участники розыгрыша JFL пополнили состав новой японской футбольной лиги.
