The Private Press — второй полноформатный студийный альбом DJ Shadow, был издан 2 июня 2002 года на лейбле MCA. Хотя критики сочли его не настолько новаторским, как дебют музыканта — Endtroducing….., The Private Press всё же получил всеобщее признание.
Об альбоме Режиссёр Вонг Кар-Вай снял видеоклип на сингл «Six Days». Песня «Blood on the Motorway» была использована в рекламном ролике для британского мобильной телефонной сети и объявления Би-би-си Darwin: The Genius of Evolution.
Специальное ограниченное издание The Private Press выпускалось в различных упаковках и содержало композицию «Giving Up the Ghost (original version)» и бонус-диск с "Pushin' Buttons Live, " — 12-минутным концертным треком при участие Cut Chemist и DJ Nu-Mark.
Композиция «Blood on the Motorway» была использована в финальной сцене киноленты Точки над i и в фильме Завтра повезет больше.
