Marius Sophus Lie (číta sa [liː], ako anglické "Lee"; * 17. december 1842, Nordfjordeid, Nórsko - † 18. február 1899, Christiania, Nórsko)http://www-history.mcs.st-andrews.ac.uk/Biographies/Lie.html bol nórsky matematik. Z veľkej časti vytvoril teóriu spojitej symetrie a aplikoval ju v geometrii a diferenciálnych rovniciach.
Jeden z najdôležitejších Lieovych matematických výsledkov bol objav, že spojité grupy transformácií, ktoré sa dnes nazývajú po ňom Lieove grupy, budú lepšie pochopené, ak sa "linearizujú" a študovať sa budú príslušné generujúce vektorové polia (tzv. infinitezimálne generátory). Lieove grupy sú dnes dôležitým aparátom v kvantovej fyzike a kvantovej mechanike. Po Lieovi je tiež pomenovaná súvisiaca Lieova algebra.
