Revised geochronology, correlation, and dinosaur stratigraphic ranges of the Santonian-Maastrichtian (Late Cretaceous) formations of the Western Interior of North America. PLOS One. 12 (11): e0188426. Souvrství Almond nasedá na starší sedimenty souvrství Ericson a naopak je bází mladších hornin formace Lewis Shale. Mocnost vrstev této geologické formace činí zhruba 210 až 290 metrů.Kieft, R.L.; et al. (2011). Stratigraphic architecture of a net-transgressive marginal- to shallow-marine succession: Upper Almond Formation, Rock Springs Uplift, Wyoming, U.S.A.. Journal of Sedimentary Research. 81 (7-8): 513-533.

Charakteristika Sedimenty tohoto souvrství se ukládaly v močálovitých, deltových, jezerních, estuárních a příbřežních prostředích na západním okraji Velkého vnitrozemského moře. Převažujícími typy horniny v tomto souvrství jsou jemnozrnný až středně hrubozrnný pískovec, dále prachovec, jílovitá břidlice a v menším množství i uhlí. Nejvýznamnějšími objevy fosilií jsou dinosauři, kteří se zde vyskytují spíše v menší biodiverzitě.Weishampel, D. B.; et al. (2004). Dinosaur distribution (Late Cretaceous, North America). In: Weishampel, David B.; Dodson, Peter; and Osmólska, Halszka (eds.): The Dinosauria, 2nd, Berkeley: University of California Press. Pp. 574-588. ISBN 0-520-24209-2. Známé jsou odtud také fosilie rostlin (např. druh Cobbania corrugata).Stockey, R. A.; Rothwell, G. W.; Johnson, K. R. (2007). Cobbania corrugata gen. et. comb. nov. (Araceae): A floating aquatic monocot from the Upper Cretaceous of western North America. American Journal of Botany. 94 (4): 609-624. Kromě dinosaurů se zde vyskytovali také zástupci blíže neurčených krokodýlovitých plazů, dále želv (Adocus cf. a Basilemys cf.) i paprskoploutvých ryb (Ichthyodectidae indet.).Cowgill, E.; et al.
