Le Championnat du monde de vitesse moto 2009 est la du championnat du monde de vitesse moto organisé par la FIM. Ce championnat comporte dix-sept courses de Grand Prix pour la catégorie MotoGP, et seize pour les catégories et (seule l'épreuve de MotoGP est inscrite au programme du Grand Prix des États-Unis).
Le principal changement cette année est l'adoption d'un manufacturier de pneus unique pour la catégorie MotoGP, ce qui entraîne le retrait du français Michelin qui ne souhaite pas participer à un championnat à manufacturier unique (comme ce fut le cas précédemment en Formule 1). Le japonais Bridgestone a été choisi comme manufacturier unique.

Calendrier Le calendrier provisoire a été annoncé le , le Grand Prix de Hongrie aurait dû refaire son apparition après 17 ans d'absence, mais le circuit n'a pu être terminé à temps.

Classements Système de points Les points sont attribués au 15 premiers de chaque Grand Prix. Les pilotes doivent obligatoirement terminer le Grand Prix pour obtenir les points.
