Етимологія Назва роду походить з латинського lapis — «камінь», та роду Lactobacillus. Назву можна довільно перекласти як «молочнокисла бактерія з каменю», оскільки типовий вид Lapidilactobacillus concavus ізольований із кам'яної стіни у винному погребі в Китаї.
